BOLTON’s iconic brightly coloured elephants have left their Newport Street home ahead of moving to a new town centre location.
The three elephants — named Ellie, Elner and Mr Jackbow — have been put in storage before they become part of a new play area in Octagon Square.
The animals were brought to Newport Street back in 2007 after being designed and named by local school children.
It was decided they would have to move to fit with the council’s £3 million plans to revamp Newport Street, with work underway.
Last month The Bolton News revealed that the council is planning to spend £75,000 creating a new children’s play area in Octagon Square.
The three elephants will be placed in the new play area.
