POLICE dogs have helped sniff out a stash of suspected drugs at a Daubhill home.
The home in Shurmer Street was raided after police were given a tip-off about suspected drug dealing at the address.
They raided the end terrace home at 10.20am this morning.
A "significant" amount of drugs was found after police dogs sniffed them out during a search, police said.
A meat cleaver and a knife were also found and have been seized as evidence.
Two brothers, aged 26 and 28, have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.
The raid was carried out as part of a “week of action” in the area, which has involved immigration raids on takeaways and speaking to residents in Rumworth about crime concerns.
Neighbours appeared shocked as about 10 police burst through the back door of the home.
Residents spoke of how suspicious activities had been going on in the area for about nine months, with an ice cream van calling on streets in Daubhill late at night playing the Popeye theme tune.
They said they were glad action had been taken on what is “usually a quiet part of Daubhill”.
Sgt Andrea Ennis, from Bolton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Today’s warrant was following on from information from the public.
"We have received information about drug dealing in the local area and we know how it can cause disruption to residents when there is unsavoury characters in the area.
“I would urge anyone with information, no matter how irrelevant you think it might be, to get in touch with police as officers will investigate.”
Anyone with information about drug dealing in Bolton is asked to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
