THE staff at Bolton School nursery got all fired up for a monster challenge to raise more than £1,300 for charity.
Staff, supported by parents, took part in the annual Dragon Boat Challenge at Salford Quays in aid of the When You Wish Upon a Star charity.
This is the third year the nursery had taken on the Dragon Boat Challenge and it did well in the heats. In the first race it achieved third place with a time of 56.33 seconds and the second heat saw it come in second place with a time of 54.37s.
Their best time of the day was in the third heat, when the team came in first place with a time of 54.15 seconds.
Amanda Twigley, the deputy nursery manager, said: “These times were faster than last year’s for us. Unfortunately we did not make it to the semi-finals this year, but there was some very tough competition to beat.”
They raised £1313.90 for When You Wish Upon A Star, and the total is still rising. They are hoping to reach their goal of £1,500 in the next few days.
