ROBBERS who threatened customers and staff in a Post Office may have stuck twice in one day.

A robber wielding a baseball bat and two other men burst into Farnworth Post Office in Brackley Street on Saturday at 11.15am. The man with the baseball bat waved it around, telling customers to get on the floor.

One of the criminals attempted to open the tills before the men left empty handed.

They escaped in a stolen Toyota Auris and drove off towards Albert Road, Farnworth. The car was dumped in Stourbridge Avenue, Little Hulton at about 12.30pm.

Detectives believe the gang may have targeted Subway on the East Lancashire Road earlier the same day at 8.45am. Demands for cash were made.

A woman, who was working in Subway, ran out of the store. The suspects stole case and left in a black car, driving along Broadbent Street, Swinton.

At least two of the men are described as being white and about 5ft 6in tall. One had a roundish face and is of stocky build.

Det Cons Stuart Round, said: “We are investigating the possibility that these two robberies – in which innocent people were intimidated and threatened – are connected.

“Both occurred in daylight hours by a number of men who clearly have no regard for the safety and wellbeing of the public.

“If anyone witnessed either incident and is yet to speak to police or has information about those involved please come forward.
