DOUGIE Freedman has pledged to go on the attack against Ipswich today, despite the disappointment of losing in-form Liam Feeney.
Rob Hall has been tipped to fill the wing position vacated by Feeney, who was this week recalled early from a loan spell by Millwall.
The former West Ham starlet has been a hit with fans since he was signed permanently in the summer but has thus far been used sparingly, making just three league starts.
Freedman gave him top billing ahead of the Tractor Boys’ visit and believes he could soon be a star attraction at the Reebok.
“He really has got a terrific future at this football club and I think in the next couple of years he will be one of the very top players in this division, if not higher,” he told The Bolton News.
“He is quick, he is good on the ball, has a great attitude to the game and he gets fans on the edge of their seats – and that is exactly the kind of thing I want to bring to this football club.”
Feeney’s departure could also offer a route back into the team for South Korean star Chung-Yong Lee, who has been on the bench for the last three games, but another who has been tipped to rediscover his top form in the coming weeks.
But after the frustration of a 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend, Freedman is confident his side are on the verge of a run of form – starting with a first home win of the campaign.
“Things have got to change,” he said. “We are performing well and creating plenty of opportunities and I just get the feeling that things are about to start going for us.
“I don’t think the players are scared to get on the ball but maybe we have lacked that killer instinct at times in front of goal.
“I’m sure that will come – we just have to keep being positive. I’m sure it will turn for us very, very soon and hopefully it does against Ipswich.”
Adam Bogdan’s knee injury means there will definitely be a change in goal, with Andy Lonergan stepping in between the sticks and Arran Lee-Barrett moving on to the bench after signing a short-term contract on Thursday.
