A DRIVER leapt out of his car just before it burst into flames in Breightmet.
The car, a VW Golf, was in Red Lane when the fire started at about 3pm on Thursday afternoon.
The blaze is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault, which also caused the handbrake to fail, and the car hit the back of a parked Honda Jazz.
Firefighters from Boton North managed to save the Honda but the Golf was a write-off.
No one was injured in the incident.
Crew manager Tony Loftus said: “It was an electrical fault which caused the fire. The driver of the Golf jumped out quickly but the handbrake failed and it hit another car.”
