AFTER 44 years in the music business Gordon Haskell has done it all.
From his first album with the influential Fleur de Lys in 1966 he has carved out a varied and distinguished career.
He’s played in groups: as well as Fleur de Lys he was bassist with King Crimson for a while – and has even been a busking drifter.
His solo career though has been of immense interest – going right back to his very first solo album in 1969.
In 2001 and 2002 he hit number two in both the singles and album charts with ‘How Wonderful You Are’ and ‘Harry’s Bar’.
Following another charting album entitled ‘Shadows on The Wall’, Gordon- who now lives in Greece – took time out to write his autobiography.
Now he’s back with a new ten-track album which is totally self-composed and was recorded by Gordon along with Bob Kennedy who supplements Gordon’s bass, vocals and guitar with his own guitar, piano and drums.
Including the single ‘Forevermore’, the album has Gordon’s unique songwriting talents gathering together all that has gone before in his life.
The result is a very mellow and listenable album veering towards blues and jazz.
The opening number ‘The Fools Of Yesterday’ sets the scene perfectly and the lyrics of ‘The Ways Of The World’ hit home as he points out some of the problems with today’s society, Very thoughtful and melodic the whole way through.
