TWO recent articles in the Bolton News covering Councillor Cliff Morris's continued desire to lead Bolton Council, only emphasises why our town is in such a bad state.

His 'more of the same' pledge that claims he has a mandate 'to continue doing what we are doing', ignores the mess the town has become, whilst offending the overwhelming number of the electorate that didn't vote Labour?

Decades of Labour rule have turned a once great northern town into an unrecognisable 'shell' in reality, 'a town without a university' has become 'a university without a town.!'

Their self congratulation on what they have 'created' would be hilarious if it wasn't so serious for the residents of the town who care about their surroundings, are now faced by a litter strewn, fly-tipped, demolished 'desert' lacking in 'green open space', with badly designed new buildings now commonplace. The appointment of Cllr David Chadwick to be in charge of 'special projects' with his 'excellent eye for detail' should come in handy when he assumes control of the miles of hoardings surrounding Bolton's demolition sites across the area —perhaps running a competition to design painted pictures to cover them.

Cllr Morris said: ''I am not saying everything we do is right — but I think the bulk of it is'' proving he is happy with the state of the town, even though we aren't. I can only ask readers, do you agree with councillor Morris or not?
