A driver was stopped by police after travelling with a 60-inch television sticking out of his car on the motorway.

The Volkswagen driver was stopped over the course of Sunday March 19 on the M60 by North West Motorway Police officers.

The TV was packaged up in a cardboard box and appeared to have been sticking out of the open roof of the black Volkswagen.

A North West Motorway Police spokesperson said: “The driver of this vehicle thought that is was okay to drive with 60 inch TV sticking out of his vehicle on M60 vehicle was stopped.

“A van is now on the way to remove the TV, the driver is being dealt with.”

An image supplied by police at the scene shows the car having been pulled over by police on the hard shoulder of the M60 with the TV still poking out of the top.

As yet no further details have been released about any penalties handed out to the Volkswagen driver.
